Where is the book signing?

The signing is being held at The Parkgate Hotel.

How do I get to the book signing room?

If you have mobility needs, we recommend you enter via the main hotel reception, which is fully accessible with a lift. 

Otherwise, the entry for the signing is the door to the right of the main entrance (closest towards the stadium). 

Is there car parking?

The hotel does not have car parking.

How far is the venue from the train station? 

The venue is a 5-minute walk from Cardiff Central train station.

Where’s the nearest bus stop/station?

There are multiple bus stops outside the hotel. Please search routes that stop at Westgate Street or visit the Cardiff bus website. 

What time does the event start?

The event starts at 10 am. 

This does not mean you have to be here for 10 am. You are allowed entry at any point throughout the day as long as you have a valid ticket. 

What time does the event finish?

The signing officially finishes at 4 pm.

Is there a cloakroom?

Yes, when you register there is a cloakroom to your right. It is free to use. 

Is there a lunch break?

The authors will be having lunch in two groups to avoid closing the room. You can choose to stay, continue to get your books and merch signed by the remaining authors, or use the opportunity to grab some lunch yourselves. 

You may be asked to show your tickets again upon re-entry if you leave the hotel for lunch. 

Is there somewhere to get drinks/food?

There is a bar in the signing room where you’ll be able to order drinks throughout. The hotel does have a restaurant on site, but we recommend booking if you would like to eat here.

The hotel is one street behind St Mary Street, where you can find lots of places to eat including McDonalds, Subway, Weatherspoon’s, Starbucks and various pubs. 

Does the hotel have a cash machine?

The hotel is CASHLESS. This means they will only accept card payments. Please keep this in mind. 

Will authors take cash or card on the day?

This will depend entirely on the author. Please check with them prior if you know you will want to purchase a book from them on the day. 

Where is the nearest cash machine?

There is a Tesco cashpoint on St Mary Street (2 minutes walking distance) 

There are also NatWest and Barclays cashpoints on Caroline Street (5 minutes walking distance)
What should I wear?

Wear something comfy. The signing room can get warm with all the bodies in the space. You will also be standing/walking around, so make sure your shoes are suitable.

Crowns are optional but very welcome.

Is there a face painter on the day?

Yes! Chibby Paints will be offering festival glitter or face-painted flowers on the day. Please be aware that you will need to pay to have glitter/paint. 

please let Chibby Paints know if you have any allergies before you get your face painted. 

What should I bring?

Anything you want signed! This doesn’t have to be books, you may want kindle covers signed, notebooks, signature books, posters, a t-shirt etc. Most authors are happy to sign anything.

Can I bring my own books?

Yes! You do not need to buy books specifically for the signing unless you want to. You are welcome to bring books from attending authors that you already have at home.

Do I need to pre-order an anthology?

We will have a limited number of paperbacks and hardbacks with us on the day, so we recommend pre-ordering if you know you definitely want one but it’s not a requirement. 

Which charity are you supporting?

We’re supporting the Trussell Trust, a foodbank charity with 8 centres in Cardiff.  More information here: https://www.trusselltrust.org/get-help/find-a-foodbank/cardiff/

How can I support the charity?

The proceeds from the anthology and the raffle events on the day will be going to the charity. So, if you’d like to help us support them, please purchase a raffle ticket or an anthology at the event.

Will tickets be available on the door?

Yes, there are a few tickets remaining, so if someone wishes to buy a ticket on the day they can. 

What if I need to bring a carer?

If you need to bring a carer and you haven’t already notified us, please email indielovewales@outlook.com so we can issue you with a carer ticket.

Is there something planned the night before?

There is nothing formal planned but there will be a group of us meeting at the hotel bar around 6:30 pm for drinks. There is a Facebook community chat if you would like to stay up-to-date with Friday night plans.

Is there something planned for after the signing?

Again, there is nothing formal planned. A few of us may go for food/drinks. There is a Facebook community chat if you would like to stay up-to-date with plans.
