Indie Love Wales has recruited a Smut Squad to help us spread the word about our 2026 signing. We have Booktokers, Bookstagramers, Bloggers and all sorts of badass book besties on board. It isn’t fair for us to hog these wonderful squaddies, that’s why we’re spotlighting them so you can get to know them too!

Books Books and more Books

My name is Julie. I live in Hampshire and I am over 50! I love to read and I’ve been reading romance from about the age of 14. I love to read to escape into a world where men worship and spank their goddess 😉 My favourite genres at the moment are: Dark romance, Mafia, Bikers, Paranormal, Omegaverse, Why choose, Fated mates. Recently I’ve added sports romance (ice hockey) and m/m to the list. I’ve been to 4 book signings in the UK and my dream would be to go to one in Vegas. This year I’ve also plucked up the courage to volunteer at one.

How did you get into blogging?

It started out as a way of journaling my frustrations and fear as it started when my daughter went into hospital. When that came to an end, my sisters suggested I tell people about the books I read. They were a lot less smuttier then 😉

What’s one thing you’re most proud of achieving with your blog?

Steadily increasing the people who come take a look.

If you had to pick one book that ignited your passion for romance books, what would it be and why?

Ohhh, I can’t answer that one. I’ve read so many books, and each book has hit something different with me.

What’s your process for finding new books to read and review?

I subscribe to lots of authors who put free books on their newsletters. I also scroll through Instagram/TikTok and if there are links for Advance Reader Copies (ARCs) and something captures my interest, I’ll apply.

What’s one romance cliché or trope you secretly (or not-so-secretly) adore?

I love a tortured soul. Especially books where he thinks he won’t ever be good enough and how he sees himself. Then, once he finds his “one”, that’s it for him – “sigh” 💜

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone thinking about book blogging?

Go for it. What’s the worse that can happen? I did it for me, anyone who wants to read my blog, then I look at that as a bonus

You’re on a tropical island for a week, what three books have you brought with you?

Oh man! Just three?! 😝

  • Esher by felicity Heaton
  • What we deserve by Lizzie Stanley
  • The end of hatred by Rebecca Hefner

I re-read these three on a regular basis 💜

What’s something you’re looking forward to about the Indie Love Wales event?

I love meeting new authors and connecting with authors I’ve met before. I’m pretty shy (which is probably why there aren’t a lot of selfies on my social media) and I’m always amazed that authors are real people and they have insecurities themselves. And all those pretty books/swag what’s not to love! ❤️
